Here’s my short answer on a much deeper topic. In my imagination, empathy and compassion are the overriding responses to the fear and anger from which hate is often derived. Individuals and communities coalesce around these ideals, and those who suggest our differences are a reason to hate the “other” are rejected. Information sources (including educational institutions) actively promote/train the value of introspection, understanding, critical thinking, how to seek common ground (compromise), and how to identify/isolate those whose goal is to manipulate emotions to create victims and promote hate.
