Thanks for this insight, Chris. I can easily align with the introspective conclusion “we are all bipolar”. My line has been (said tongue-in-cheek) “schizophrenia can be a good thing.” Technically, schizophrenia and bipolar are different disorders, but since they share some similar symptoms, let’s go with “bipolar light” for this discussion. Of course, neither of us are making light of being bipolar.

I think in terms of controlling my good face and bad face — in particular, controlling my responses to both positive and negative stimuli. My goals are to recognize (and eliminate, if possible) negative energy runing through my system, and to channel my reactions/energies positively. My intent is this manifests as helping others see the silver lining in otherwise difficult situations, or facilitating coming-up with an action plan to change what can be changed — and if nothing else, isolating the negative so it’s adverse effects are minimized. Probably not always obvious, but my humorous writing (meager as my attempts may be) is one of the ways I try to deliver on this promise.

Among the personal traits I admire in others and aspire to role-model, introspection is very important. I believe without self awareness, it’s impossible to achieve my goals, and you are clearly demonstrating this admired quality. Even though it was unintentional, I am pleased to have provided the “nudge” and even more pleased with your follow-up, Chris. Thank you!
