James Methvin, I knew nothing about Roy Moore before his latest notoriety (including that he was once a Democrat). Now, I know more about him than I care to, and he won’t be invited to Thanksgiving dinner with my granddaughters. A lot of women are coming forward now (as opposed to then), because of the grander movement, which includes assaulters and accusers of all persuasions. Power over the victim seems to be the common denominator and not industry or party.
I absolutely agree with your assertion that our outrage should not be greater or lesser because of our politics. And yet, Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan embrace the president (who has 4 times the number of accusers) and condemn the judge. Trump is in a very difficult position because he can’t, with credibility or sincerity, comment. You may have noticed, he asked Ivanka to do so, which gets a Trump on the record . But by saying, “There’s a special place in hell for people who prey on children,” she seized on the age of Moore’s victims and conveniently ignored her father’s issues. And we still don’t know why Mitch and Paul believe one’s accusers and not the other’s.
