ewrxroads: A thoughtful response — and I appreciate that very much. Since we’re both probably guilty of using too many words to make a point, let me just leave you with a few bullets:
- I didn’t call you a troll. If I had judged you to be one, you wouldn’t have gotten a response from me. Injecting an opposing point of view does not define a troll, which I do and I’m happy to entertain — especially if it leads to a reasonably intelligent exchange of ideas and perspectives. Perhaps by flying incognito, you haven’t been trolled, but I have — including someone who thought my family should have “died in the ovens.” That brings me to my next point.
- I have many friends who are Jewish, but contrary to what the troll thought, I’m not Jewish. You have assumed I’m on the “left”, and like Austin, you seem to have firm beliefs about what that means about me. What you know about me is I don’t like pathological liars and serial perpetrators of business fraud. The fact that Trump is both (documented to the point that it’s no longer opinion) makes me anti-Trump.
- Otherwise, I am fiscally conservative, socially progressive, and best qualify as an independent. While our choices are often between the least of 2 evils, I won’t vote for someone with whom I’d be afraid to leave my wife, daughters, or granddaughters OR who has no track record for contributing to the public good and, instead, has left far too many people holding the bag while he succeeds at their expense.
- Lastly, I spent most my career in high-tech R&D environments. Sometimes a breakthrough takes a long time and sometimes it never happens. Let’s see where the Mueller investigation leads, but before you buy-in to the special counsel’s efforts being motivated by sour grapes over an election loss, recognize 2 things: (1) Trump brought this on himself by firing Comey — followed by telling visiting Russian dignitaries, “That pressure’s off!”, and (2) The ongoing lies and omissions of Manafort, Flynn, Papadopoulos, Don Jr. and Jared suggest strongly there’s something to hide.
People with nothing to hide don’t lie because the truth is their friend. People who are competent enough to run billion dollar businesses (which I’ve done) or solve for peace in the Middle East, don’t forget details — especially about meetings with Russians.
