Yes, I winced at “procrusted”, not meant as a slur
I was rightfully called-out, ‘cause as a meter-er
I might stretch the words or the point, as it were
See, like me, Procrustes was a Hammer-er
Unlike me, hammered humans, and maim did occur
Where in my case, procrusting does not pain infer
Yes, my readers may leave if they can’t endure
Poetic pain inflicted when the meter’s not pure
So I’ve no better word than Chris’ “procrusted”
But in all future poems, the meter will be adjusted
